Sex and the City will return with a new season for HBO Max
Sex in New York returns. Sixteen years have passed since the airing on HBO of the airing of the latest episode of the groundbreaking comedy created by Darren Star. Nevermind: Carrie Bradshaw and her friends will continue to seek happiness in 10 new episodes to be seen on HBO Max, the Warner's new star platform that will arrive in Spain before the end of 2021. The continuation will be called And Just Like That ... (And thus, in Spanish) and will be born, in principle, in a limited series format.
Social networks have been the medium chosen by Sarah Jessica Parker to confirm the rumors of the return of Sex in New York. The phrase "I couldn’t hep but wonder… where are they now?" (I couldn't help but wonder ... where are they now?) It was the way chosen by the producer and protagonist of the original series to notify her more than six million followers on Instagram that something important was about to happen. . The first teaser for the series did the rest. Minutes later, Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte) followed in the footsteps of their partner and friend of hers in real life. Who will not be in the series is Kim Cattrall, the unforgettable Samantha Jones.
In 2017, Sex and the City 3 was about to be given the green light, but Cattrall's refusal ended up destroying the project. Shortly after the veteran of the group confirmed an open secret. Her bad relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker, dissatisfaction with the salary received in previous films and the feeling that she had already told everything she wanted to tell about Samantha had been reasons enough to say goodbye to her forever from the character most famous of her.
This is not the first time that Sex and the City has returned from series heaven. In 2008, a film adaptation was released that convinced -mostly- the fans and exceeded 415 million dollars in revenues worldwide. Two years later, in 2010, a second part was released that lost part of the commercial impact and earned the scorn of critics and followers for a script that was not up to the standard of the series that had marked a before and after in the turn of the century television. In 2013, The CW channel launched The Carrie Diaries, a prequel that showed the origins of the columnist in the New York jungle. After a disappointing start in hearings, it was canceled in 2013.
And Just Like That .. is expected to begin shooting in late spring under the supervision of Michael Patrick King. The main creative person in charge of the original series since its third season, creator of The Comeback together with Lisa Kudrow and director and screenwriter of the two Sex and the City films, will be in charge of creatively leading the return to television of a classic.
