Rafa Nadal and Mery Perelló are expecting their first child next fall
Rafa Nadal and Mery Perelló are going to be parents. Rumors about a possible pregnancy of the tennis player's wife had been highlighted just a few days ago during the Roland Garros final, to which the young woman attended as she always does but wearing baggy clothes. It has been the magazine Hello! the one in charge of confirming that Rafa Nafal and Mery Perelló are expecting her first child thanks to some photographs of her on the high seas in which she reveals her pregnant belly wearing a maternity swimsuit.
The tennis player and his wife will welcome their first child next fall and for the moment they have decided to take a few days off in Mallorca after Nadal's victory in the Parisian tournament. The manacorí's spectacular boat is being their refuge these days and they have shared several days at sea with some close friends.
Mery Perelló's pregnancy will undoubtedly be a very happy moment for both of them, who have known each other since they were teenagers. They grew up in Manacor and it seems that it was the tennis player's sister, Maribel Nadal, who introduced them. She and Mery went to the same school, Pureza de María, and their families had known each other all their lives. Mery became Rafa Nadal's great support from the beginning in his career as a tennis player, which started in 2005 by winning in Monte Carlo and achieving his first Roland Garros. That summer they were photographed together for the first time.
We sneak you into our fifth anniversary photo shoot. That's how they posed and that's how Rafa Nadal and Clara Alonso are.
The couple got engaged in the spring of 2018 during the Rome tournament in which Nadal won and became number one in the world again. In the Italian capital he asked the woman in his life to marry him and on October 19, 2019 they were married in a family ceremony with some 250 guests, including King Juan Carlos, a good friend of the tennis player, along with the queen Sofia. The wedding took place in Sa Fortaleza, a 17th century castle located in Pollensa, in the north of Mallorca. The tennis player wore an elegant gray morning suit, while the bride chose a sophisticated haute couture design with art deco-inspired hand embroidery by designer Rosa Clará.
Mallorca has always been present in the lives of both and it is there where they continue to reside. Mery works at the Rafael Nadal Foundation as project director and her mother-in-law, Ana María Parera, is the president and Maribel is the commercial and marketing director. Although the tennis player spends almost the whole year from tournament to tournament, when summer arrives he always returns home and it is common to see them on the beach or on board his boat with his usual friends. The arrival of the first child to the Nadal-Perelló family next fall is the culmination of this love story that began in the adolescence of its protagonists and has lasted almost two decades.
